Port Orange, FL - A 47-year-old convicted felon is wanted by police for robbing a bank the day before Thanksgiving.

The Port Orange Police Department is searching for Mark T. Wardell in connection to yesterday afternoon’s (November 21st) incident at the Wells Fargo branch at 3860 South Nova Road. That’s just south of Dunlawton Avenue near the Village Trail intersection.

According to POPD, the suspect walked into the bank just before 4 p.m. wearing a gray baseball cap, a white T-shirt and dark athletic-style shorts. When he approached the teller, he passed a note implying that he had a gun and then told her to give him money.

The suspect left on foot after she gave him money. How much isn’t clear at this point.

No injuries were reported.

Wardell was identified by POPD as the suspect within hours of the robbery. He’s facing a robbery without a weapon charge once caught.

Security video stills of the suspect are posted below.

Florida Department of Corrections records show Wardell has served at least three separate prison sentenced, including over 12 years on charges of armed robbery, grand theft and organized fraud in St. Johns County. He was released this past May.
