Port Orange Patrol Vehicle Involved In Vehicle Crash

Port Orange, FL - A Port Orange Police officer has minor injuries after the marked patrol vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident early this (May 21) morning.

The officer was traveling westbound on Dunlawton Avenue in the right through lane with the green light around 12:15 a.m. A 1999 pickup driven by 38-year-old Scott Callicott of Edgewater, attempted to make a right turn in front of him off Swallow Tail Drive. The front left of the pickup hit the right front of the patrol vehicle.

Callicott stated he'd made a complete stop before attempting the turn. He turned into the direct path of the patrol vehicle and is in the hospital with serious injuries.

This is an open investigation with charges pending against Callicott.
