Port Orange Man Sentenced To 45 Years In Prison For Stabbing Death

Port Orange, FL- A Port Orange man, who was 19 at the time of the incident, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for stabbing his mother's boyfriend to death. The incident happened on March 4, 2014, when Dylan Reitzel, now 23, heard a loud argument between his mother, Donna Reitzel and her boyfriend, 52-year-old Willam F. Brooks, Jr. Reitzel's mother told him that Brooks had hit her. Reitzel than started arguing with Brooks, according to a charging affidavit. Reitzel told police that Brooks grabbed him by the neck and shoved him. Reitzel walked to outside and grabbed Brook's knife from a Jeep and stabbed one of the tires. He went back in the house and the argument with Brooks continued. And then he was stabbed in the abdomen. Brooks and Reitzel tumbled to the floor with Reitzel ending on top. He hit Brooks in the face with the hand holding the knife. At 11:36 p.m. on March 4th, someone called 911 while Brooks lay on the floor unresponsive, bleeding from the abdomen and several cuts on his head and face. Brooks died at the hospital. Dylan Reitzel entered a plea to second-degree murder and to violating probation in the beating and robbery of a Chinese food delivery person.
