Port Orange Man Dies In I-95 NB Wreck

Update: The driver has been identified as 22-year-old Geovanny Villagomez of Port Orange. FHP's incident report indicates that Villagomez was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped over. It is still unknown why he lost control of the car.

Volusia County, FL - FHP is investigating a single vehicle accident on I-95 NB Thursday night near New Smyrna Beach that killed a 22-year-old Port Orange man.

FHP says a 2014 Dodge Avenger was northbound at MM 251 when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car went off the road and hit a culvert. It overturned multiple times and ended up in a wooded area. That accident happened at 8 PM.

The driver was killed. A passenger identified as 27-year-old Ryan Roberge of Edgewater was hurt. He was being treated for serious injuries at Halifax Hospital.

The name of the driver being withheld pending notice to next of kin. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
