Port Orange, FL - A Port Orange man is facing 2 counts of attempted murder after he stabbed both of his parents during a fight on Thanksgiving day.
Deputies think 34-year-old Edwin N. Daugherty got upset during an argument with his mother, and things got physical. He put his mother in a headlock then did the same to his father when he tried to intervene. Edwin pushed his father, Thomas J. Daugherty, to the ground then grabbed a 4-inch knife and stabbed him several times in the chest. When Edwin's mother, Patsy Daugherty, went to help her husband Edwin stabbed her too.
Witnesses who were sitting at the dinner table next to the kitchen told deputies that they saw Edwin stab his parents then leave the house, at 2336 Costa Del Sol Dr.
Deputies found the knife Edwin used hidden in some bushes about a block away from the home, and they found him walking down the street around 1:22 PM.
Edwin's being held at the Volusia County Jail without bond.
