Port Orange, FL - The City of Port Orange is looking for volunteers to help with a Community Roadside Cleanup event on Saturday, June 9.

The cleanup event is a collaboration between the non-profit Volusia County Volunteers and the City of Port Orange and is part of the city's ongoing anti-litter initiative, #KeepOurCityPretty.

The event begins at Buschman Park (Spruce Creek Road entrance), at 8:30 a.m. for check-in, with the cleanup beginning at 9:00 a.m. The park is located at 4575 Spruce Creek Road.

“By participating, it will be a great thing to do with the family and a means to give back to the community,” Christine Martindale, Public Information Officer for the City of Port Orange explains. “Additionally, it’s an excellent way for students to get volunteer hours with their schools.”

Volunteers can meet back at Buschman Park for refreshments at 11 a.m. Prizes will also be awarded for categories like “Most Weight Collected,” and “Most Unique Find.”

You can register by visiting the City’s website here and clicking under “City News” located on the homepage.

"Our goal is to promote #KeepOurCityPretty, to encourage all our citizens to help maintain a clean, inviting community that maintains a high quality of life and a clean environment for all," Port Orange Mayor Don Burnette says.
