Port Orange, FL - The Port Orange Police Department (POPD) is asking residents to check their bank accounts for fraudulent activity after a skimming device was found at a Kangaroo Express gas station.

On Monday, April 30, officers responded to the Kangaroo Express located at 1591 Dunlawton Ave. after a customer reported possible tampering with one of the gas pumps. Upon further investigation, police found a skimming device attached to the pump.

The device was removed and put into evidence. As a result of the incident, all other pumps at the station were checked for skimming devices. POPD indicated that management had last checked the pumps at around 1 PM on Sunday, April 29. At that time, all pumps appeared to be tamper-free.

POPD believes that the type skimming device found stores information until it is collected in person. The department urges anyone who paid at-the-pump with a credit or debit card at this location between 1 PM on April 29 to 11 AM on April 30 to check their bank statements for unusual activity. If there appears to be fraudulent activity on your account, you are asked to call POPD via the Volusia County Central Dispatch Center at 386-248-1777.

If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477) or by texting “TIP231” and your message to CRIMES (274637).
