Daytona Beach, FL – Police arrest a suspect with an out-of-state warrant involved in a malicious attack outside of a Daytona bar back in January.

And they credit this arrest to the security video, 911 audio and photos that were sent to the media.

Back on January 26th, officers were called to the front of the Coyote Ugly bar on Seabreeze Boulevard in reference to a fight.

There, police found 26-year-old Derrick Tibado, lying unconscious and unresponsive on the ground.

Two witnesses told police that Tibado had been in a fight and was punched in the face by an unknown Hispanic male.

According to Daytona Beach police, as a result of that fight, Tibado suffered serious and permanently debilitating injuries because of the attack. That includes a broken jaw, blindness and memory loss.

Tibado now requires 24 hour care as a result of the injuries.

As the investigation went on, police began to receive videos and 911 calls that would help them figure out who was behind it.

“And six months later, we were able to get a suspect in this brutal beating,” said Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri.

And that suspect is 26-year-old Daniel Dunay, who now faces aggravated battery charges.

But, that’s not all he’s facing.

According to Chief Capri, Dunay is also facing charges in Kentucky related to amphetamine trafficking.

That was made aware after police found out that there was an out-of-state warrant for Dunay’s arrest that was filed on May 17th.
