Person Critically Injured In DeLand Mobile Home Fire

UPDATE: The resident injured in the fire is identified as 55-year-old Danny Bellomy. He is still reported in critical condition and is being treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The initial investigation determined the fire was caused by Bellomy smoking cigarettes while his medical oxygen tank was activated.

DeLand, FL - A resident of the Sha-De-Land Mobile Home Park in DeLand is in critical condition after the mobile home they were in caught fire this morning (June 18).

DeLand Fire Rescue, Orange City Rescue and Volusia County Firefighters responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting smoke coming from the home and someone yelling for help at 147 Oak Drive around 7:20 a.m.

Firefighters were able to rescue the person who was transported as a Trauma Alert to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

Firefighters contained the blaze to a bedroom. The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall's office.
