Edgewater, FL - A 70-year-old Edgewater man is dead after being hit by a car Monday night. Joe Mahoney, Edgewater Police Public Information Officer, stated that the accident happened about 8 p.m. when James B. Martin was struck by a Hyundai passenger vehicle while crossing U.S. Hwy. 1 eastbound at the S.R. 442 intersection.
The driver, 30-year-old Jayme C. Blaise, also of Edgewater, stayed at the crash scene. She was uninjured. Mahoney said that Martin was taken to Halifax Hospital, where he succumbed from his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
