Paving Work To Start This Week On 17/92 Sinkhole

DeBary, FL - It's been nearly three weeks since a sinkhole forced the closure of northbound U-S 17/92 in DeBary. Now the Florida Department of Transportation is saying the repair work is close to being finished. Prep work is now underway to begin paving over that sinkhole later in the week.
Construction crews have pumped in 350 cubic yards of a special type of grout to stabilize the sinkhole, which was first discovered on August 24th near Hollow Pine Drive.
All northbound lanes were shut down the following day after the hole expanded, which FDOT officials say was due in part to a water main break. The sinkhole eventually grew to about 60 feet wide and almost 20 feet deep before it was filled up with dirt and grout. FDOT hasn't said at this point when the road will re-open.
