Daytona Beach, FL - Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport continued its impressive rise last month.
September traffic was up 22.8% when compared to the same last month year. 53,691 passengers flew in or out of the county-operated airport - nearly 10,000 more than last years figure of 43,728.
For the year ending September 30, 2016, 689,586 passengers used the facility. At that time last year, 622,294 passengers had used DBIA. That marks a 10.8% increase in traffic and the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year gains.
Those gains were made possible by the addition of Jet Blue and added seats in Delta and American Airlines.
“Even in a slower travel month like September we saw very positive growth in passenger traffic over last year,” said Airport Director Rick Karl. “We remain cautiously optimistic heading into 2017 since we haven’t experienced this type of growth in more than 10 years. However, Delta and American have both added capacity over the last six months, and the demand has kept up. Delta had its strongest load factor of the year at 94 percent. These are all very positive indicators for continued growth.”
Additionally, Jet Blue has said that expectations are being exceeded. DBIA is one of the most profitable new routes for Jet Blue, domestically.
