Palm Coast, FL - The City of Palm Coast will unveil its expanded, newly renovated, 21,000 square-foot Community Center on March 23. The Palm Coast Community Center has been expanded to triple its size, with an added grand entrance and lobby area featuring a contemporary coastal design. The state-of-the-art facility was renovated and designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards for sustainability and resource efficiency, according to the City of Palm Coast. The project cost $8 million, using sales tax revenue, and did not require any borrowed funding. Ajax Building Corporation was the construction manager for the project. The grand re-opening of the Center will take place from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, March 23 at the Community Center, located at 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE (corner of eastbound Palm Coast Parkway and Club House Drive). Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland and Parks & Recreation Director Alex Boyer will speak, and the Palm Coast City Council will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:15 PM. The ribbon-cutting will be followed by an evening of tours and refreshments. Tours of the Community Center will also be available to the public from 9 AM - 1 PM on Saturday, March 24. The Community Center features a modern playground shaded by historic oaks preserved during construction, and the Center's basketball court has been moved to the back to allow for more parking. The new trailhead with restrooms connects to the Linear Park Trail. Part of the expanded parking lot will be shaded with a solar canopy. The Community Center also offers weekly classes; special events; and rental space for parties, weddings, business conferences and more.
