Palm Coast, FL – A Palm Coast man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Thursday for killing his cousin last September.
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Clarence Murphy shot his cousin, Ahmad Rashad Laster Sr., in the head during a drug deal gone bad last year. You can find earlier reporting here.
Laster was found on the morning of September 19 lying in a driveway on Parkview Drive in Palm Coast. He was rushed to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, where he later died. Murphy was later arrested during a traffic stop.
Murphy admitted to killing his cousin. He was originally charged with first-degree murder but then was convicted after pleading no contest to a reduced charge of second-degree murder last month.
