Ormond Beach, FL - Two people are hurt - one of them severely - after they were run over by an elderly driver in Ormond Beach.

The call for help came around 11:45 a.m. from a parking lot near Big Lots on South Nova Road. It's inside Rivergate Plaza.

Ormond Beach Police Department Officer Keith Walker tells us one of the victims has a severe arm injury with multiple broken bones, while the other has head injuries.

"Two pedestrians were struck by a silver Cadillac sports utility vehicle while walking in the parking lot," Walker added. "The Cadillac sports utility vehicle initially left the scene but returned a few minutes later.

The driver initially left because they got scared, per Walker, but because they came back so quickly, no hit and run charges are expected.

Both victims have since been transported to the hospital by paramedics and are not in life-threatening condition, per Walker.

OBPD has yet to identify the victims or the driver.
