Ormond Beach, FL - Investigators are now pursuing a man who robbed a bank this morning in Ormond Beach. First responders got the call for help at 10:19 a.m. today (November 13th), directing them to the Florida Community Bank branch on 1120 West Granada Boulevard. That's just south of the Clyde Morris Boulevard intersection. As of Noon today, the Ormond Beach Police Department shut the bank down as part of the investigation. Several units were positioned in the parking lot, including an OBPD Crime Scene van, after crime scene tape was run around much of the bank's outside perimeter.
OBPD Officer Keith Walker says it's not clear at this point who the robber is. "[The robber] approached a teller and displayed a note demanding money," Walker added. "The suspect implied he had a weapon. After receiving money from the bank, the suspect fled the area." No injuries were reported. It's also not clear at this point how much money the man took. Air One - the Volusia County Sheriff's Office helicopter - and a K-9 unit from the Daytona Beach Police Department responded to assist in the search for the suspect, per Walker. "As of this time, the suspect has not been captured," Walker noted. OBPD has released still photos of the suspect from the bank's security cameras.
Officers are asking anyone with information to call OBPD at 386-248-1777 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
