Ormond Beach, FL - At least one person was hurt in a shooting outside an Ormond Beach skating center this past weekend, one which also saw bullets enter a nearby daycare and a white van parked in front of that daycare.

The Ormond Beach Police Department tells us the 20-year-old Daytona Beach woman hurt in Saturday night's (November 10th) incident near the Skate & Shake on U.S. 1 had cuts to her face from bullet fragments. The incident report provided by OBPD didn't say how severe those cuts were or if she received treatment for them. No other injuries were reported.

Volusia County emergency dispatchers received the first 911 call just before midnight. A 36-year-old Daytona Beach woman who worked inside the skating center told dispatchers that she heard "numerous loud bangs go off" while she was collecting entry tickets and that's when people who were waiting outside rushed their way inside.

She also stated that numerous people said they heard gunshots coming from the back side of the parking lot, at which point she called 911.

Another female employee, a 23-year-old Sunrise woman who was outside the door at the time of the shooting, told officers that a white newer-model Chevrolet Equinox appeared to be involved in the shooting somehow. This part of the incident report was redacted by OBPD.

Responding officers found rifle casings that were .223 caliber on the southeast side of the skating center's parking lot along with one 9-millimeter fired pistol casing just to the north of the other casings.

Officers also discovered at least one bullet went through a window near the front door of the nearby Little Feet Academy, lodging itself into a classroom wall. The van - which had been used earlier that night to take children to the Skate & Shake - had "several" entry and exit holes created by bullets, per the report.

Security video found by detectives afterward shows the shots were fired at 11:49 p.m. and that two vehicles left the area around 15 seconds later, one being a white-colored sport utility vehicle and the other a dark-colored sedan, possibly a newer-model Chevy Impala or Malibu.

Notices have been issued to area law enforcement agencies on those vehicles. OBPD hasn't released any images from the security video or the video itself.
