Flagler Officials Warning Of Safety Issues Related To Pokemon Go

Flagler County, FL-A new app that's only been out for a week is causing law enforcement officials to issue safety warnings. FCSO Operations Director Jim Troiano said one thing the Pokemon Go app is leading to is more distracted driving.

Troiano went on to say that they are hearing stories each day about safety concerns, even serious accidents, resulting from use of the app. Pokemon GO is an “augmented reality” game that sends people out into the real world to catch the creatures. This means people are looking at their phones while walking, bicycling and even driving.

Another issue is that the app tells the player to go to a location. Troiano said that the locations are available to all players and the people in the game need to be aware of where they are going and that they could get into an unsafe situation.

Players are encouraged to follow all local, state and federal laws while playing the game and never, ever use it while driving.
