NWS: Volusia County's In For Some Warm Weather, Rain, & Strong Rip Currents

Posted
Volusia County, FL – Residents on Volusia's coast can expect warm temperatures,  a chance for rain, and strong rip currents heading into the last few days of March. Matt Volkmer, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Melbourne, says the warm weather will stay in the area throughout the week and into the weekend, with highs in the mid-80s.  He expects dry weather through the midweek with a slight chance of afternoon showers on Thursday. On Friday, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms. There is still a high chance of rip currents throughout most of the week, and Volkmer advises beachgoers to be cautious. He warns that there can be dangerous rip currents even if the surf is rough or still. “Check the beach conditions and the beach patrol and only swim within the sight of a lifeguard,” says Volkmer.
