NSBPD Needs Public's Help With Fatal Scooter Accident

New Smyrna Beach, FL - The New Smyrna Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle accident that took the life of 28-year-old Gelisha De Chelle Smith last night (July 23) around 11 p.m.

Officers responded to a call pertaining to a scooter and an unresponsive female lying in the right side median of east SR 44 in front of the Sugar Mill Mobile Home Park, west of Glencoe Road.

New Smyrna Beach Fire and Rescue transported Smith to Florida Hospital New Smyrna, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

NSBPD said that at this time, there are no known witnesses to the incident and that they have very little to go on.
