NSBPD: High Visibility Enforcement & Bicycle Safety Operation Successful

New Symrna Beach, FL - The New Symrna Beach Police Department's (NSBPD) High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) and Bicycle Safety Operation was successful yesterday.

Between 1:00 - 4:00 PM, Officers Karl Lippack, Johnathan Jones, Josh Calverley and Eric Peterson, as well as Lieutenant Mark Severance, were all looking for traffic violations along the stretch of S. Atlantic Ave. from 7th Ave. to 25th Ave. They witnessed several infractions at four crosswalks in the area.

25 citations were written for drivers who did not yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk, 10 warnings were written and 1 ticket was given for the seat-belt violation of a minor.

The HVE Operation is part of an effort to increase enforcement along S. Atlantic Ave. and SR 44. The operations are funded by a Florida Department of Transportation grant. This was the 5th HVE event and the next scheduled operation will be held on April 11 and April 27.
