NSB Man Arrested On Multiple Charges

New Smyrna Beach, FL - A suspect in a shooting in New Smyrna Beach is now in the Volusia County Jail. Volusia County sheriff's deputies arrested 28-year-old Startavious Tarpley at a Daytona Beach Motel 6 after recognizing his vehicle, which was involved in a New Smyrna Beach shooting incident.

Deputies searched the vehicle, finding what appeared to be cocaine, crack cocaine, meth, and marijuana. While deputies conducted the search, Tarpley mentioned that an off-white substance was not crack. He told them it was Ecstasy. Deputies confirmed that the substance was Ecstasy through a field test.

VCSO deputies charges Tarpley with possession of crack cocaine, MDMA, meth and less than 20 grams of cocaine.

Then it was the New Smyrna Beach Police Department's turn to deal with Tarpley. They charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed burglary, possession of a weapon/ammo by a convicted felon and driving while license suspended or revoked.

Tarpley is in VCJ, being held without bond. Besides the charges already listed, he also has a number of warrants related to the manufacture, sale and trafficking of cocaine.
