Volusia County, FL - A New Smyrna Beach man was arrested and is now out on bond after trying to kidnap a 12-year-old boy from a McDonald's parking lot.
According to WFTV-9 News, the boy was returning to his father's vehicle from the restaurant's restroom.
When the boy got into his father's car, Robert Sawyer, 54, tried to pull him from the car and the boy's father grabbed Sawyer attempting to free his son.
An off-duty police officer waiting in the drive-thru heard the boy screaming and came to his aid, tackling Sawyer.
