New Smyrna Beach, FL – A 33-year-old New Smyrna Beach man is in custody Saturday after Volusia County Sheriff’s detectives uncovered he was in possession of child porn, some of which he manufactured. Two days before Jonathan Erb’s arrest, detectives received an online tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. On Friday, Erb was surveilled at a McDonald’s in New Smyrna Beach and subsequently arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana. During questioning at the Sheriff’s Operations Center, detectives found several pornographic photos and videos of girls between the ages of 4 and 9 years old in Erb’s possession. Detectives then obtained a warrant to search Erb’s cellphone. Erb then admitted to manufacturing and possessing child porn. He was able to identify a young child in a sexually explicit photo that was taken in New Hampshire during 2017. Detectives have not yet identified any local victims, but anyone who may be able to identify potential victims or anyone with information is urged to call the VCSO Child Exploitation Unit at 386-254-1537. Erb was charged with 15 counts of possession of child porn. His bail was set at $78,000.
