Volusia County, FL - During the 1st meeting of 2017 3 new members were sworn into the Volusia County Council and a familiar face was appointed as the Council's Vice-Chair.

The 3 newcomers to the Council are County Chair Ed Kelley, District 2 Representative Billie Wheeler, and District 4 Representative Heather Post. "We are all here for 1 reason," said Kelley. "To make Volusia County better than it was when we came. That's my pledge to you."

Pat Patterson served as the Vice-Chair for the opening of the Thursday, January 5, 2017, meeting and motioned for Deb Denys, District 3 Representative, to take the position. It didn't take long for the Council to appoint her.

Sherif Mike Chitwood, who was sworn in just 2 days prior, was in attendance and had this to say to the council: "You have the full cooperation of the Sheriff's Office... I need full cooperation from you."
