9.7K Volusia Voters Affected By Disbanding Of FL Independent Party

Posted

Volusia County, FL - On Thursday, the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections, Lisa Lewis, confirmed that the Independent Party of Florida was formally disbanded.

The Independent Party of Florida was disbanded because it didn't comply with the rule that requires a certified public accountant to audit a political party.

On March 2, Lewis mailed new Voter Information Cards to the affected voters. 260,000 voters were affected in Florida, and 9,700 of them were in Volusia County. This disbandment automatically defaults these voters to a No Party Affiliation (NPA) status on their voter registration.

If a voter wishes to change their NPA status, the Supervisor of Elections encourages voters to complete the form on the Voter Registration Cards they received in the mail or complete a Voter Registration Application at VolusiaElections.org.
