Bunnell, FL - New documents appear to vindicate what so many have thought for months about the Flagler County Sheriff's Office Operations Center in Bunnell.

A newly released 49-page report from Terracon - the Kansas-based engineering firm hired by the county to run invasive tests in January - found what appears to be mold, water intrusion, bat droppings and other issues hidden in the walls and floors throughout the facility.

It used to be the site of Flagler's only hospital before the county bought the abandoned building - then known as Memorial Hospital Flagler - and retrofitted it for the Sheriff's Office in 2015.

Nearly 40 FCSO employees have filed worker's comp claims with Flagler County since then, claiming the building made them sick. Many of them have since announced their intention to sue the county.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly ordered the building's evacuation in June, saying he didn't feel confident in the county's handling of the matter.

Flagler County Administrator Craig Coffey resigned in January in part over the controversy. He's been replaced temporarily as the search for his permanent replacement continues.
