DeLand, FL-Police doing a well-being check on a DeLand home early Tuesday found two small children inside the house and just feet away from an active meth lab. Three adults are under arrest including the mother of the kids. Relatives asked police to check on the home of 21-year-old Cortney Campbell after a relative, a young child, used the bathroom in the home and reported he smelled an odor and saw a man come out of a bedroom with a plastic bottle with foil inside and multiple metal pots with aluminum foil. Police arriving on the scene reported smelling a chemical odor coming from the home and seeing suspects through a window pouring liquid into plastic bottles. Police entered the home and found evidence of an active meth lab inside. Campbell told them she never went into the back bedroom and never asked the men in the house with her what they were doing. The children in the house are Campbell's three-year-old son and 7-month-old daughter. They were turned over to members of Campbell's family. Charged are Campbell, 27-year-old Aaron Voss, and 42-year-old David Velarde. All face multiple felony drug counts and a felony child neglect charge. All were booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail.
