Flagler County, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) has recognized retiring medical director, Dr. Morris Carter, and the department has named the medical wing at the Flagler County Jail after the doctor. During a presentation on Wednesday, Carter was recognized for more than 40 years of service to the Sheriff's Office and the inmates at the Flagler County Jail. Carter was presented with a plaque to commemorate his retirement and a certificate of appreciation appointing him the Flagler County Detention Facility Medical Director Emeritus. Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly then officially dubbed the jail's medical wing the Dr. Morris Carter Medical Wing. “Dr. Morris Carter was the jail medical director for over 40 years. That is half a lifetime. He has brought us to where we are today and has really molded the jail’s approach to medical care,” explained Staly. “Re-naming the medical wing after him just feels right.” Carter has treated generations of Flagler County residents in addition to treating patients at the Flagler County Jail, according to the Sheriff's Office.
