Palm Coast, FL - Flagler County deputies arrest a man after a suicide attempt on I-95 that sparks a homicide investigation in Jacksonville.
FCSO responded to a suicidal person near Mile Marker 286 on I-95 southbound Monday (October 15th) morning.
Deputies, with the assistance of an OnStar operator, were able to stop the vehicle and make contact with the 51-year-old Wilford Chason Jr. from Jacksonville.
Chason was in need of immediate medical attention with self-inflicted lacerations on his arms, neck and other parts of his body.
He was Baker Acted and transported to Halifax Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
In the hospital, Chason reported to staff that a crime had happened at his home in Jacksonville. It was then that FCSO made contact with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and requested a welfare check at Chason's home.
JSO later reported that their Homicide Unit is now working on a death investigation at the residence.
Chason remains in the hospital, receiving treatment for his injuries. JSO is currently handling the investigation.
