Daytona Beach, FL - One man is behind bars after he fires at a vehicle with a 2-year-old in the backseat.

Yesterday (March 7th), just after midnight, Daytona Beach police responded to the American Inn off of Ridgewood Avenue with reports of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

There, they met with the owner of the vehicle, who said the following.

Just before midnight on March 6th, he received a message from a female on Facebook messenger, asking for a ride from the Daytona Beach Gold & Country Club Condominiums to Bethune-Cookman University.

The relationship of the two was not made clear in the police report.

Around 15 minutes later, he arrived at the condominiums and waited for the female to come outside with his son in a carseat in the back.

While he waited, he watched as 27-year-old Bobby Wilder approached the vehicle from the passenger side.

The victim knew Wilder from giving him rides in the past as well as having mutual friends.

As Wilder approached, the victim noticed that he was carrying a firearm. Wilder eventually stopped and fired at the vehicle, striking the rear passenger door, right next to where his son was sitting.

The child was not injured as a result of the shooting.

The victim then sped off and called for law enforcement to respond at the American Inn.

He told police that he had an issue with Wilder around a month ago involving a female Wilder was dating at the time.

Later on in the day, Daytona Beach police conducted a photo lineup with the victim, who immediately identified Wilder as the shooter.

Wilder, who was found out to be a five time convicted felon, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a felon and firing into a vehicle.

He's currently booked at Volusia County Jail, held on $15,000 bond.
