Man Jumps From Granada Bridge In Apparent Suicide Attempt In Ormond Beach

Ormond Beach, FL - A man jumped from the Granada Bridge into the Halifax River in Ormond Beach in an apparent suicide attempt Friday morning, and the man was taken to the hospital. Ormond Beach Police Department (OBPD) responded to the North side of the bridge at around 7:10 AM Friday after receiving reports of a man sitting on the railing of the bridge. According to OBPD, the man was making suicidal statements when police arrived. Officers spoke with the man as Beach Patrol monitored the area of the water. Officers tried to negotiate with the man for about an hour, but he jumped from the bridge despite the negotiation attempts. Beach Patrol was able to safely remove the man from the water, according to OBPD, as the man was conscious and alert.
