Man In Police Custody Escapes & Is Recaptured In Ormond Beach

Handcuffs crime man arrest Ormond Beach, FL-A man in police custody escaped and was recaptured earlier this week in Ormond Beach. Police say 19-year-old Jarod Stacy was taken into custody during a domestic violence investigation at 1508 San Marco Drive #105 Tuesday night. Ormond Beach Police PIO Officer Keith Walker says Stacy was in custody and in the back of a vehicle while the officer was doing arrest paperwork in the lot of the Ormond Towne Square. The officer partially rolled down the back window so Stacy could get fresh air. Walker says the vehicle had security bars. Stacy was able to get his cuffed hands to the front of his body and somehow reached through the bars to the outside of the vehicle. He was able to open the door handle and ran from the vehicle The officer chased Stacy into a wooded area to the south of the shopping center but was unable to catch the suspect. Walker says Stacy was found around 9 AM the next morning hiding in an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of the San Marco Apartments. He has been booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges including escape. He is being held on no bond.
