Man In Phone Scam Claims To Be FCSO Corporal

Flagler County, FL – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls on Monday from citizens reporting calls and voicemails from a man claiming to be Corporal Joseph Barile of the FCSO.

Sheriff Rick Staly wants citizens to know that the caller is not who he says he is.

The calls came from phone number 386-313-4911 but voicemails give a callback number of 386-237-6392, extension 19.  That phone number has a voicemail set up with a person identifying themselves as an employee of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Some citizens reporting the scam told FCSO that when they asked the “Corporal” to identify himself and spell his last name, the caller got flustered and hung up.

Sheriff Staly said, “Don’t become a victim. When in doubt, call the Sheriff’s Office and let us verify the information you’ve been given.”

If you feel that you may have been scammed and you want to verify with FCSO, you can contact the main phone line at 386-437-4116.
