Flagler Beach, FLUpdate: The man who drove over a deputy's foot during a traffic stop in Flagler Beach and then fled the scene has turned himself in. Jimmie Lee Belle III turned himself into the Flagler County Detention Facility on Monday, June 26, where he's being held without bond. “Belle’s father brought him to the jail to turn himself in,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “I am glad that his father took my advice and helped his son turn himself in. Welcome to the Green Roof Inn.” He's facing charges of aggravated fleeing or eluding with injury or property damage, battery on a law enforcement officer, driving while license is suspended or revoked, and violation of probation. Earlier Reporting: The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is still searching for a man who fled after driving over a deputy's foot during a Saturday evening traffic stop in Flagler Beach. Deputy Richard Petkovsek pulled over 24-year-old Jimmie Lee Belle III after Belle ran through a stop sign shortly before 6:53 PM. Belle was pulled over on 2nd St., and after he made contact with Petkovsek, he accelerated his car, ran over the officer's foot, and fled the scene. He was last seen driving westbound over the Flagler Beach Bridge. "If you injure and run from one of my deputies, we will find you. It is best to turn yourself in now before more potential charges are added," says Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. Petkovsek was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler and has since been released. Belle is facing charges of Aggravated Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing and Eluding, and Driving with a Suspended Licence with Knowledge.
