Man Holds Gun To Worker's Head In Dollar General Robbery

Daytona Beach, FL - Officers want your help to find a man who robbed a Dollar General while holding a gun to an employee's head.

The Daytona Beach Police Department says it happened around 3 p.m. Monday at the store on 825 West International Speedway Boulevard.

According to police, it all started when a caller claimed the suspect - identified only as a black man who weighs around 180 pounds - had a gun pointed at an employee, a claim which was verified by the video footage found afterward. Images from that video are posted in this article.

DBPD thinks the suspect forced the employee to put money from the register into a shopping bag before running out of the store and into the front passenger seat of a newer model dark-colored Chevy Camaro. Officers say the vehicle's engine was on and someone was already in the driver's seat.

The Camaro was last spotted heading south on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard after fleeing east on ISB, according to the police report.

No injuries were reported.

Officers did track down a similar vehicle later in the day and arrested the driver of it for causing an accident with another vehicle as he tried to flee from police. DBPD has since said that driver wasn't involved in this incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS or text CRIMES (274637)from a cell phone to remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward. You can also submit a tip online through DBPD's website.
