Daytona Beach Shores, FL-Beach Safety pulled an unresponsive man from the surf Tuesday and rescued a child who was with him.

The Indiana man was pronounced dead at the hospital after being transported by EVAC. Beach Safety Captain Tammy Marris says it happened in an unguarded section of the beach in the 2600 block S The Beach in Daytona Beach Shores. A Beach Safety ski went to the area after someone called 911 and reported two people who appeared to be too far out in the ocean around 2 PM. The child was brought to shore. Air One then spotted the man floating face down about 300 yards offshore.
