Man Arrested After Threatening An Employee While Trying To Rob An Orange City Store

police-lights-dark-car Orange City, FL - A 27-year-old man is behind bars after attempting to rob a Lowe's in Orange City and for threatening a loss prevention officer. Orange City Police arrived at the Lowe's Home Improvement store at 901 Saxon Blvd. around 12:36 PM on July 5th in response to a felony theft in progress. Officers were advised that a suspect, later identified as Robert Allen Lewis, tried to steal several hundred dollars worth of tools. Lewis was stopped by a loss prevention officer and a physical altercation ensued. lewis threatened to stab the employee, though no weapon was visible. Lewis then fled the store on foot. With the help of VCSO and K-9 officers, Lewis was found hiding in a wooded area behind Lowe's. He was arrested by Orange City Police without incident, and a knife was found on him. He's being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail and has been charged with robbery ith a deadly weapon, grand theft, and resisting a merchant.
