Orange City, FL - A 25-year-old man is charged with making a destructive device after it took flight and landed in his neighbor's yard.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to a home off of Liskeard Avenue around 5:30 yesterday afternoon (April 20th).

There, a woman was working in her backyard when she heard a loud hissing noise and saw white smoke as something flew into her yard.

When she went to take a look, she found a metal pipe capped at both ends with heat coming from it.

Deputies who responded notified the VCSO Bomb Squad, and the resulting investigation led law enforcement to a home off of Montrose Avenue. At that home, deputies met with Christopher Green who said he made homemade smoke bombs.

Later on in the night, the Volusia County Crime Center found a video posted on Green's Facebook page. That video showed Green making a pasty substance in a pot on his stove, before going outside to light a pipe.

Once he lit the pipe, it took flight.

Green was transported to Volusia County Jail, where he was later released on $10,000 bond.

There were no injuries from the incident and neighbors in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
