Daytona Beach Shores, FL - One Daytona man with supposed mental health issues ends up behind bars after beating and macing his mother.

That's the story for 24-year-old Robert Eddington after Daytona Beach Shores police and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office showed up at his mother's home off South Atlantic Avenue in the Shores.

Yesterday (January 21st), just before 3 p.m., a deputy with VCSO was called to a residence in reference to a fight.

Upon arrival, the deputy found Eddington seated on the ground outside the residence with a DBSPD officer.

The deputy was told that Eddington had already admitted to beating his mother to the Shores officer, just before he showed up.

Eddington told law enforcement that he came over to his mother's house with a knife, pepper spray and a zip tie because she "need to be roughed up enough" for the police to be called.

Eddington would then proceed to beat his mother and pepper spray her before attempting to tie her up because she was a "narcissist."

He also told law enforcement that he had mental health issues, but would not go into detail about it.

The deputy would then go upstairs to the residence after interviewing Eddington to find his mother. His mother appeared severely battered, bleeding from the nose and mouth and apparently had broken teeth.

She told the deputy that she had brought her son over for lunch, but when they got upstairs she was attacked.

She stated that Eddington had punched her in the head, slammed her head into a window before proceeding to pepper spray her in the face. She tried to get away according to her narrative, which is when Eddington pulled a knife on her and tried to stab her in the ears.

She would be able to make Eddington drop the knife so she could kick it away.

After kicking the knife, Eddington pushed her to the ground and began to kick her and stomp her on the head. He would then attempt to zip tie her hands, but wouldn't be able to as she struggled.

In her struggle, she was able to get her phone and call her boyfriend for help.

She said she didn't think to call 911 because she couldn't think clearly during the altercation.

The mother would tell deputies that she wanted to pursue criminal charges. She was also not able to write a statement for law enforcement due to her injuries.

Eddington was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.

He's currently booked at Volusia County Jail without bond.
