Two Men Arrested After Shooting At Daytona Motel

UPDATE (6-23-18): The shooter has been identified by Daytona Beach police as 43-year-old Heath Banner (left) of Daytona Beach, who will be facing two counts of aggravated battery against a person using a deadly weapon.

The man shot by Banner is 50-year-old Frederick Peters (right) of Daytona Beach. According to police, Peters was armed with a handgun in his waistband which he showed to Banner. He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Police have not released the identity of the girlfriend. There is no report on their condition at this time.

Daytona Beach, FL - A man and a woman are in the hospital after being shot during an argument at a motel on U.S. 1 in Daytona Beach.

The Daytona Beach Police Department responded to a call for help at the Heritage Inn on 1100 South Ridgewood Avenue around 9 p.m. tonight.

According to police, the male who was shot was arguing with another man outside of a room at the motel when the other male pulled out a shotgun and fired.

The woman - whom police called the girlfriend of the man shot - was also injured by gunfire. Officers tell us she was not involved in the argument.

The injuries were not fatal and paramedics took both to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment.

Police are charging the shooter with aggravated battery with a firearm. The male who was shot may face charges as well, though DBPD hasn't said why.
