Male Tourist Dies After Being Pulled From The Ocean Near ISB In Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL - Update: The man who died after he drowned near the International Speedway Blvd. approach in Daytona Beach on Friday has been identified.

Volusia County Beach Safety says 32-year-old Azar Aslanov was found lying face-down and unresponsive in the water when he was rescued. Just prior to his rescue, lifeguards rescued Aslanov’s wife, 26-year-old Narmina Dzhafarova.

A man has died after being pulled from the surf by Volusia County Beach Safety near the International Speedway Blvd. (ISB) approach in Daytona Beach.

According to Volusia County Beach Safety, at around 4:30 PM on Friday, rescuers pulled two distressed swimmers from the ocean. Both victims, one male and one female, were transported to the hospital. The male was found unresponsive and reports indicate that he later died.

The victims are believed to be out-of-country tourists. At this time, their names are not being released. Originally, officials believed there may have been a third victim missing in the surf, however, further investigation confirmed there is not a missing person.

Volusia County Beach Safety indicates that they will likely fly the red flag throughout the weekend due to hazardous rip current conditions.
