Mainland HS Student Baker Acted After Threatening Violence Against School

Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Beach Police Department says a 20-year-old Mainland High School student was Baker Acted on Thursday after he threatened violence against the school.

Officials say DBPD was made aware of threatening social media posts made by the student on Thursday morning. The 20-year-old threatened violence against his classmates and the entire school, along with other disturbing general comments.

DBPD acted quickly and had the student at police headquarters shortly after discovering the threatening social media posts. He was extensively questioned and investigators ended up taking him into custody under the Baker Act.
