Palm Coast, FL - A License Plate Reader (LPR) alerts to a stolen vehicle and leads to a drug arrest by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the alert on Tuesday afternoon to find 37-year-old Kevin Jean-Giles behind the wheel of a vehicle reported stolen in South Carolina.

FCSO found the vehicle in the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie store on Palm Coast Parkway and conducted a felony traffic stop. A search of Jean-Giles and the vehicle turned up three cell phones, one iPad, one credit card skimmer, two wireless routing devices, several credit cards not belonging to him, multiple sets of car keys, large amounts of cash, and cocaine.

Jean-Giles told deputies that he did not know that the vehicle was stolen and that he had picked it up from a friend in Daytona Beach.

“This is another excellent example of how our teamwork, technology, and strategies are working to quickly apprehend criminals before they can commit crimes in our community,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This is a guy who had many items in his possession that are extremely incriminating. Our team will be working with neighboring agencies to ensure that no other crimes have been committed. I am thankful that we were able to arrest him without incident, recover the stolen vehicle and credit card skimmer, and get more drugs off the streets of our community.”

Jean-Gilles is charged with Grand Theft Auto and Possession of Cocaine. He posted a $5,000.00 bond and was released.
