DeLand, FL - Local police and fire agencies from Volusia and Flagler head to the Panhandle to lend a hand in the wake of Hurricane Michael.

Yesterday (October 14th), the Volusia County Sheriff's Office announced that they have deployed a group of workers to Bay County in the Florida Panhandle along with supplies to help with the relief effort.

They left in the early hours of the morning, with high water vehicles including trucks and ATV's in tow.

A number of fire departments around Volusia County also joined in the effort.

Crews from Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, Edgewater and New Smyrna have been sent to Tallahassee with some crews expected to stay for almost 10 days.

Flagler County joined in the effort as well with the county fire department donating two tanker-tender strike teams to the effort.

Local Republican and Democrat chapters have also began to help out with the effort with fundraising and supply collection for those in need.
