Bunnell, FL - A civilian working at the Flagler County Jail is facing charges after a K-9 found marijuana in her employee locker.
On Tuesday morning, K-9 units with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) completed a routine walk-through of the jail to check for contraband. During the inspection, K-9 Tag led deputies to Victoria Ferguson’s assigned locker in the employee section of the jail. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly then called for an immediate investigation of Ferguson’s locker.
A search led deputies to find under 3 grams of marijuana in Ferguson’s purse. Ferguson was immediately arrested and charged with Introduction of Contraband into a Detention Facility, a felony, and Possession of Marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Ferguson, who had worked as a probationary CCTV Operator since May 2017, was fired for failing to meet the conditions of her probationary period. She was subsequently booked into the Flagler County jail on a $3,000 bond.
“I am very disappointed that a Sheriff’s Office employee would violate our drug-free workplace and other policies and bring drugs into the jail,” said Staly. “I will not tolerate employees tarnishing the good reputation of our agency and the many men and women that work hard to serve our community in an ethical and professional manner. I hope she enjoys looking out from the other side of the bars now!”
