Daytona Beach, FL – The identity of the victim in an apparent hit-and-run on Nova Road in Daytona Beach is now known.

Daytona Beach Police Department spokesperson Lyda Longa said the man whose body was found in the 600 block of North Nova Road early Saturday morning is 62-year-old Jose Palomares.

Traffic homicide investigators found a car part at the scene and have located the vehicle that struck Palomares.

Someone called 9-1-1 at about 2:30 a.m. to report a man lying in the street near the Ritchey Autos dealership, per Longa.

“When officers arrived, it was determined that the deceased man had been a victim of a hit and run,” Longa added.

The case is still under investigation and the name of the driver/owner of the vehicle involved has not been released. Charges are pending at this time.
