fire 1 Edgewater, FL - Edgewater Fire Rescue is investigating a house fire that left 4 pets dead. Around 1 PM on Monday Edgewater Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a fire at 121 Dixwood Avenue after callers reported seeing smoke and flames at the house. The fire was contained within ten minutes. The owner, who arrived on scene shortly after fire crews, said there were 3 cats and 1 dog in the home. Fire crews found the pets, but despite their best efforts to revive them the animals didn't survive. "The owner is displaced because of the fire," said Jill Danigel, Public Relations and Special Events Coordinator for the City of Edgewater. "There is significant smoke and fire damage, so the Red Cross has been in contact with the homeowner and they will assist." The homeowner also has family in the area who will be able to lend a hand. "We estimate about $60,000 worth of damage," said Danigel. The cause of the fire is under investigation. fire 2
