Holly Hill, FL-From today through June 5th, law enforcement officers across the country will step up enforcement to crack down on motorists not wearing their seat belts during the "Click It or Ticket" campaign. Why have a campaign to enforce seat belt laws? Holly Hill Police Chief Steve Aldridge says it's because seat belts save lives.

Aldridge said summertime is prime travel time and Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff to summer travel. Extra officers will specifically be on alert for seatbelt violations during the campaign.

Everyone in a vehicle should have their seatbelt on. Aldridge said there would be fewer injuries during an accident. He also said that a driver does not have to be doing anything else wrong to be stopped for a seatbelt violation.

Statistics show that 58 % of backseat passengers killed in an accident were not buckled up. The "Click It or Ticket" campaign goes into effect during every holiday throughout the year.
