Holly Hill Mayor - Millage Rate Could Go Down

Posted

Holly Hill, FL - September is budget month for most, if not all, of the government entities in Volusia County, including Holly Hill. Mayor Chris Via said that they have found some money in the budget that will allow for a decrease in the city's millage rate. He said at this time, he's not certain how much the rate will decrease but does feel certain that it will happen. One item that made room in the budget is a railroad crossing that was taken out and created substantial savings.

There are a couple of items that Via said he is glad are in the budget. One is replacing the fountain in front of City Hall and turn it into a larger veterans memorial. Via said the memorial will honor any and all veterans from Holly Hill. Another item is the pedestrian bridge that will be completely remodeled and renewed between LPGA Boulevard and Sunrise Park on Riverside Drive.

Holly Hill's second budget hearing meeting takes place next Tuesday, September 24. Also happening that same day in Holly Hill is the launch of the city's new website. One area of the website that's not quite complete is the utility payment area. Until it is updated, city residents that want to pay online will be directed to the payment portal. You will be required to enter your contact information and account number each time you use the site. The payment section will be updated at a later time when a solution to integrate it with the new financial system is installed.
